Career Action Plan Research:

For my career action plan research, I have considered my career interests and my 5 year plan. The two careers that I'm interested in are Book Illustration and Character Design. I have put both of these careers into my 5 year plan as I am considering both options when I become a freelancer. I have previously made a 5 year plan but I have changed it so that I could add other goals. I have put together my 5 year plan so that I can set myself goals and focus on learning new skills and improving on met existing skills.  Before making my 5 year plan, I did set myself certain goals that I want to achieve. These goals are: -Improving on my online presence by updating my website and posting on Instagram. Making my own Etsy page so I can start to sell my own work. Lastly, my final goal is to recognise my strengths and weaknesses.  To find out my strengths and weaknesses, I took a Belbin Test and got the plant result. By taking this test and researching, I found out that my strengths are...

Personal Promotion Item: Final Outcome

Image
Website on Computer:  Website on Phone: Here is the final outcome for my personal promotion item. I have presented images of the computer and phone version of my website. I have enjoyed working on my personal promotion item because I have gained new skills of learning how to promote my work. Also, I am now able to keep developing my website so that I can get noticed within the industry and to make more connections.  To improve my work for my personal promotion item, I needed to present more finalised pieces of work.

Personal Promotional Item Development:

Hand-written Website Headings: I am now starting to improve my website by adding my own hand drawn type. This will personalise my website and show more of my drawing style. I have decided that I want my name in colour so it stands out. I have experimented with multiple colour schemes. These colours were applied by using Photoshop. The outcome that I have chosen for my name is the blue and pick colour scheme because I think it matches the colour schemes of my Illustrations on my website.   Sub-Headings: I have continued using hand drawn type for my sub headings for my pages. All of the sub headings have been left in white for now. Follow Me Button: Instead of using the original Instagram logo for my page, I have designed my own symbol that says follow me in a speech bubble. I chose the pink design as I think the pink is bolder than the blue. When clicking on this symbol, it will take you to my Instagram page.  Development on Wix: Here is an image showing my development of...

My CV:

Image
I have started to make my own CV. This will be useful for when I want to gain work experience or find a job related to Illustration. Making my CV has been beneficial because it's encouraged me to think about my skills. To improve my CV even further, I think that I could personalise it so employers can see my visual style and learn more about me as an Illustrator.

Money Matters:

One of my lessons within this module was focused on money matters and how I need to think about costing when being an Illustrator. I was able to think about aspects such as the costing of art supplies, programmes and studio space, travel costs and duration of a project and whether all of these aspects made taking on a certain project worth while.  I think that this lesson was helpful because it has encouraged me to think these aspects when working on any future projects/ commissions.

Creative Statement:

Hi! I'm Paige, I'm an Illustrator from Stoke-on-Trent. I'm currently an Illustration student at Staffordshire University. I enjoy making work that focuses on bold lines, character designs and educational pieces. My work contains both traditional and digital mediums. The Creative  Statement that I've presented above has been used for my website. It gives a short summary of who I am as an Illustrator. This statement could be used for other platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn and for my Etsy. gradually as I develop my website and my skills as an  Illustrator, this statement will end up changing.

My Website:

Image
I've started to make my own website. I've started with creating 3 pages. The first pace shows my work, the second page presents information about me and the last page is a contact page. I'm happy with the layout of my website but I think that my website needs to reflect more of my personality and drawing style. To show my art style, I'm going to use hand-written text for the headings and for my logo. I will carry on adding my work onto my website and showing finished work.  Website Link:  https://paigemaddox87.wixsite.com/paige-maddox
