New Self- Portrait Design:

Image
I have developed my self-portrait even further by changing and keeping certain elements. This illustration was traditionally made and then scanned into Photoshop. When applying colour to this illustration, I have kept to a limited colour palette. After applying colours, the illustration looked like a flat image so I added toned colours for shading to enhance the illustration.  I'm going to use this self-portrait for the website that I'm going to make and I may possibly add this to my portfolio.

My 5 Year Plan:

Year 1: Set up a more advanced website using word press or square space Set up my own Etsy Stay at my part time job and sell my illustrations on the side Practice digital work Look into illustration based job applications Year 2: Job interviews Continue working at my part time job  Leave my part time job  Continue selling my work on Etsy Year 3 : Should of left my part time job  Studio based job  Gaining experience Would like to work within a character design based job Year 4: Still working in a studio based job Gaining more experience as a character designer  Year 5: Maybe trying to work freelance Being confident when making traditional and digital work Occasionally selling my illustration on Etsy

My Website Designs:

As I'm going to be making my own website where I can present my work, I have started to make rough sketches on the possible layouts that I could choose from. Each layout has a variation based on the logo and the image layout for where my work would go. Also, I have thought about the other pages that would feature on my website. These pages would be Home, Sketchbook, Portfolio, About Me and Contact.  Based on all three sketches, I am considering with choosing the first rough sketch that shows my name drawn out in hand written type.

Website Research:

After researching a number of different web building sites, I've started to think about layout. For inspiration, I've looked at websites made by contemporary illustrators and character designer.  Every website presented here is quite simply with  a white background. The website should have a simple layout and colour scheme that is not distracting viewers away from the artwork. All of these websites have different layouts that all clearly present the illustrations in a presentable and professional way.  At the top of each site, they all have their own branding trademark. Showing either their name hand-written or their own logo.  This research has been useful because I've been able to see what are the effective methods of presenting a website. For the next stages of my work, I'm going to sketch out some website roughs and use this research as inspiration.
